The Operations Playbook for a CPG Founder Who Leads and Lives with Rachel Cheng of Yay's Snacks

LISTEN ON: APPLE | SPOTIFY‍ ‍ ‍

Rachel Cheng was a COO at her first food brand at 22 and has never looked back. After seven years at Popcorn for the People, she joined Marlon and Ben as co-founder and COO of Yay's Snacks. Their mission is simple: prove that beef jerky is better crispy. The product is built on Marlon's grandmother's recipe, and every piece that leaves the facility is held to that standard.

Behind that product is an operation Rachel built carefully enough that she can take a vacation without worrying about what is happening in the kitchen. That comes from documented processes, visual training tools, and a team culture built on trust and shared goals.

A founder focused on the big picture, she believes, is building something sustainable. Her advice is to designate a production manager as your first line of communication, stay proactive rather than reactive, and remember that you owe it to yourself and the people in your life to rest.
